Pictures of recent life.

The latest sketchcrawl was a week ago, but it’s been a busy week, so I’m just getting around to posting it tonight.   Showers had come and gone all day.  It was hot and sticky out and the thing I really wanted to draw was a cool refuge.

This sweet spot was on the street side of a big old oddly rural looking building in the town next to mine.  The lucky folks who own it and obviously cherish it with care live across the street from a parkway surrounding a river that snakes through green neighborhoods.   Wouldn’t you like to enjoy a quiet hour or two here?

An afternoon at the animal shelter with my niece provided a much less peaceful opportunity to draw.  Kittens don’t sit still for long and Cookie Dough the bunny paused just long enough to identify the next impossible-to-reach place he was going to hide in.

Hi Simple! I've just read on the homepagethat you were blogging, so ....here I am. How are you? I like your drawings very much. The new layout of your blog is beautiful too, great idea! Hugs

I do like these pictures. Clever girl! I used to like drawing plants and still-life things, but I was hopeless at animals, and people. (Snakes could have been easier but I'd have had to overcome my dislike of them first.) I have my set of pencils from school days - I never let a child near them, and I think you may well have given me a urge to pick up a pencil and draw that begonia!!! Sort of 2B or not 2B really.

Hello Ladies,
I've gotten into sloppy blog habits lately and haven't been back to check comments. I'm very happy and quite surprised to see you here!

Lady D,
I would have certainly checked your blog if I'd known you were writing and will get there very soon. With Jean and Eric off in other cities these days, I think I may have to enjoy some family warmth from your wonderful family!

Hello Aaronette,
When I learned that you know what you're doing with pencils and paper, I nearly lost the nerve to post these, but this blog is supposed to be a place that tracks what I do with my time. These days most of what I do with my time is try to get something on paper that is something like the things I see around me.
I'd never even attempt a begonia, though. I know my limits and begonias have all of those intricate scallopy edges and nooks.
I wish I had a set of pencils I'd been smart enough to put together and then save. The art supply place is doing very well these days, thanks to my frequent visits.
Are you blogging this summer? I'll be by to check.
