It's a Happy Birthday for me

I don't want to mislead you.  It's not my birthday, but that of my daughter Jean but that makes it truly a happy, happy birthday for me.

Happy Birthday Daughter.  Your head is even better at thinking than it is at wearing hats with your  remarkable style.

(Miss you.)

These are not days for regular posts.  I don't know why words don't flow nor why, though my mind is full of thoughts, none seem to fit into a blogpost.  I miss writing and I miss hearing from other people;  it's as if my eyes got used to focusing on more distant points and now all I have to look at is close-by and too familiar to be interesting.

This isn't the first instance of blog-freeze that has tied me up and I know of others who've waited through a spell like this.  Some of them came back and many of them didn't and remain missing and missed.  I still think of them and hope their shops, their gardens, their campfires, their pubs, their homes and people are well.

There is an inmost center in us all,
Where truth abides in fullness. . .
And to Know
Rather consists in opening out a way
Whence the imprisoned splendour may escape
Than in effecting entry for a light
Supposed to be without.
If you listen carefully, perhaps you can hear voices,
Calling to you from your inmost center.
They are the voices of your own imprisoned splendour:
Your forgotten wisdom
Your buried joy,
And your lost passion
Longing to be set free.

                    Robert Browning, from "Paracelsus"

I'll be carefully listening to those voices today.  There's some rough going in life here at the moment;  it's almost enough to make one forget about the resources at her inmost center.  Luckily, someone patiently let me prattle about the misery  long enough to let me remember that I have the ability to give the voices of joy, wisdom, and passion more time to speak to me.  That may muffle others' voices that  only make noise and disturb .

The Trudge is another weapon in the struggle that I was encouraged to resume.  I'll be walking by moonlight again, starting tonight, listening as I do.

This says it best--give it a good think.

"My mother had a great deal of trouble with me, but I think she enjoyed it."

                                         ~~Mark Twain

Happy Mother's Day to all mothers who understand that "enjoyed" is a very complex concept and to their lovely simple children.
